Week 8
Hey buddies! I’ve already fallen behind…eek. The past few weeks have been super busy and I got sick! Being sick + taking care of a baby + no help is tough.
WEEK 8
2 Month Check-up
Weight: 13 lbs 4 oz (85th percentile)Height: 23.5 inches (73rd percentile)
Evan got his 2 month vaccinations. He was not a happy camper. I wish they could’ve stuck me with the needles instead!
Milestones
Evan now sings/coos/smiles at us and we have “conversations”; he discovered his hands and now sticks his hands in his mouth; he follows us with his eyes; he sticks his tongue out; he can lift his head for a pretty long time. I would’ve never imagined that something like seeing Evan stick his hand in his mouth and soothe himself for the first time would put me in such a good mood the whole day. So funny how even the smallest milestone/change is just so amazing to us.
On Our Own
This was the first week we were on our own. We had a live-in doula since Evan was born. We called her Eemo. It was so sad saying bye to her. I get attached to people so easily. As we drove her home I saw tears in her eyes and she was holding Evan’s hand the whole time. Some people come into our lives for just a brief time but leave an everlasting imprint. Eemo was there for us during the most important time of our lives. Those early days…being overwhelmed with the responsibility of a new life, the sleepless nights, the constant around the clock feedings, the troubles with breastfeeding, Evan’s jaundice…Eemo was right there with us helping us through it all. Wow, we’ve come a long way.
I’m really going to miss Eemo. I feel sad knowing that Evan will now be missing a big chunk of love and attention in his life. Eemo was so good with him – always patient, always loving. She would hold him in her arms and walk back and forth for what seemed like hours…comforting him, talking to him, stroking his hair. Eemo would always call him “wangjaneem” (prince) and say he was a living doll. He would stretch his legs and arms for her while making his little critter noises and smiling like crazy. She would always say Evan’s eyes sparkle when he’s awake, how he’s such a big boy, how strong his neck and legs are. Sometimes the two of us would just stand there looking at Evan while laughing and smiling and talking about how cute he is.
Eemo did soo much for us. She took care of Evan, cooked, cleaned, walked Bella, gave massages, organized my closet, taught me how to cook, gave facials, helped with breastfeeding, etc. Some days she’d be up as early as 5:00am and stay up until way past midnight. It felt like we were living in a 5 star hotel with around the clock room service. Breakfast was brought to our room every morning and the typical array would be pancakes, bacon, eggs, oatmeal, milk, OJ, miyuk gook and fruit cut in pretty shapes. Our bathroom and room would be cleaned every morning. We were so lucky!I wish I had been better to Eemo while she was here. I wish I listened to her more, talked with her more and just appreciated her more. Lesson learned – cherish the people in my life now because sometimes people pass quickly in and out of our lives and who knows if I’ll have another opportunity to be better. Eemo, I’ll miss you. I’ll never forget you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us.
Questions
I’m in the process of making a few purchases and before I finalized I was hoping for some input. Does anyone have the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3K digital point & shoot camera? Thoughts?
How about the Epson R1900 Large Format Photo Printer? I’m looking for a high quality photo printer (no all-in-ones) to print photos and graphics. Any suggestions? Thanks! I promise to review them later.
Mom*Tog
I found an awesome blog created by Drew Bittel who happens to be an amazing photographer and mom. She is the genius behind the Mom*tog blog – a site for moms who love photography. That’s meeee! Drew posts tips/tricks for taking photos of your baby, interviews with baby photographers, q&a’s, mom stuff, etc. I love it!
Coming Up…
There are so many things I want to share. Hopefully I can find time soon so I can post a review of my new Flip Mino HD, some great deals I found, art projects, etc. Until then…have a fabulous week!

yay for another Evan update!
I’m so sad for you that you had to say goodbye to eemo. She sounds like a wonderful woman. But I’m sure you’ll see her again one day and I know eemo will be soo happy to see her wangjaneem. =) Hope things are going well even without her there. Jacob and I both got sick too!! But I hope you’re getting better fast. Thanks for the website recs! I love the photography one! We still need to meet up and shoot together! Maybe now we can shoot each other’s babies. (that sounds kinda morbid! haha)Take care Jenny!
aww, ur baby is so adorable. =) have u heard of karen cheng? her blog is pretty good too. =)
and regarding the camera, I heard tht Lumix is really good.
i know! calista’s sucking her hand too (right hand – does that mean she’s a rightie?) and it’s the cutest thing ever! we just sit around watching her.. at times though, we’re worried that she might poke her eyes out. her thumb goes into her mouth kinda but her other fingers are all over her face! i’m SO loving evan’s big ole cheeks~ he’s looking more like daddy this week. your eemo sounds so wonderful~ maybe you can have her stay with you again for baby #2? wait, so you’re all alone? is A traveling a lot these days? i have yet to spend a whole day alone with callie. i spend half a day alone and became so overwhelmed that i had to call S to come home!
Evan has gotten so big… every day with the bay is amazing… your eemo sounds amazing… it is true that we don’t cherish or appreciate the person to the full extend till they are gone… wait till Evan discovers his toes.. hehe
Evan looks so grown up already!!! You always look so pretty, and how adorable is Bella! Aww, eemo sounds wonderful. Thank you for the update, I’ve been wondering how things were going. Sorry you got sick love! I heavily rely on cnet.com for gadget reviews. I’m not much of a help with product recommendation, but as for getting an Epson printer, it sounds like a good plan since Epson is the only printer all my art school teachers recommended when I was in school…and it’s the only kind I’d purchase.
he really is adorable!!! the second cutest baby boy in the world (after mine, of course!)
yay for more evan pics!! he’s growing up so fast. and that’s so awesome how you had a wonderful live-in eemo to help you with evan! i may have to ask you for her contact when i have a baby myself! hehe i hope she travels
I was also wondering about the lumix camera too. i don’t know of the exact model # but my brother had a lumix and he loved it and the colors came out really great.

Your Eemo sounds amazing! I almost started tearing reading what you wrote about her. You’re absolutely right about treasuring every person and every little thing that happens in our life. Time passes us by too quickly. I’m sure that your Eemo knows how you feel.

Awww looks like Skippy and Evan are getting along nicely. Evan is SOOO cute and getting so big!!!Even though you don’t update often it’s well worth the wait. I’m not savvy with camera and I’m in need of a good one too so if you find one let us know.

i felt soooo sorry for evan in the photo where he got his shots ~ poor boy. he needed a paci!!! i’m going to buy him paci’s. dont tell andy though =)
i miss you already, evan ~ your big big eyes and beautiful smile….i think u should post a picture of me up above his crib and tell him daily that i’m eemoh #1. ok..well maybe #2 after your doula =)))) haha
Yay for an Evan update! He is getting so big and those cheeks are just so tasty looking =D Hope you guys are doing well now that you’re on your own without Eemo. Can’t wait for more updates!
wow evan growing up quick. it must be fun to see his milestones, i cant wait. How was it living with a doula, we plan on hiring one, since my ML cant make it, but dont know where to look, did you use a 3rd party services? I hope you dont mind me asking. thanks in advice.
I second Kat’s comment… hook me up with a eemo like her! ;p Seriously… I had to do it alone (minus Jung’s help) all from birth to now and I really really wished my mom was near by. *sniff sniff* I cant image having a baby #2 but maybe it’ll encourage you so that you can reconnect with your eemo? ;p
Reading Evan’s updates is reminding me of Des’ but I’m so lazy and so pooped to updated theses days. I really should since Xanga is only place I will have a record of his growth…
I cant wait to finally meet Evan and Callie in April~ yay! *counting the days*
oh wow~ all that help must’ve been nice!! you guys must be SO tired now that she’s gone huh?? omg, evan is so cute! i love love looove that picture with him and bella on the couch. kkk. reminds me of k when he was younger with bbo bbo. i bet you can’t wait til they start playing together. k is so active with the doggies now, it’s the cutest thing! he’s nice and gentle with them yet playful at the same time. btw: looking at the pic. of evan with his daddy (side to side), i totally see the resemblence. anyway, take care of yourself and baby!!

@wedBliss - hi sweetie! sorry i haven’t been able to e-mail you back~ i’ve been so busy this past week with guests and mr. fussy that i’ve fallen way behind on e-mails & xanga! i’m totally thinking about you gals all the time though! yeah, andy has been traveling on and off. he’s leaving again this week…sniff sniff. i can’t wait to see you sooooon! i’ll write back soon~!
@sista_kimchee - hi hi! sorry i haven’t been able to write you back yet~ i’ve been super busy. i was so happy to get your message though! thanks for your input on the epson printer! i think i’m going to get it…esp. with an endorsement from a true blue artist.
hope everything is going well~~ i’ll write you soon!
@Girl_Interrupted118 - hey buddy! thanks!! i think you & trueclassic are cute too, hehe! we found our eemo through an agency (http://www.sanmohomecare.com). the site is mostly in korean…if you can’t read korean then maybe you can just call them. they have people who can live with you or just do 9-5 daily. i think a lot of them do postpartum care but i’m sure they would have people who do regular nanny stuff too. good help is so hard to find…wow, you’ve already gone through 4! i hope you find someone you gals love!
@Mrs_Cho08 - hi! you’ll love living with a doula~ it was soo helpful having someone there esp. in the beginning. eemo was sooo awesome!! i actually talked to her today and told her that there were some people who asked me about her services and she said i could give them her #. i’ll message you with it! we found her through an agency (http://www.sanmohomecare.com) but it would be cheaper if you go directly through her. let me know if you have any other qs!
adorable adorable adorable! girl, how do you do it? put me to shame, here i am free as a bird and i can’t even update once a week! on top of that, you always provide great content too! love the momtog blog! what a great site, all the camera settings for each frame is recorded! anyway, looking forward to your flip mino vid review…i’ve been playing around w/ my new canon g10 at home…i’ll do you proud and post some processed photos of my two lil ones soon! =) btw, you sound so much better, like you’re back to your old skippee self yay!
@iheartphotos - hey you! thanks for the input on the lumix! i just got it~ can’t wait to practice with it. i’m just about to post the flip review. i loveeee it!
Evan looks like you. We even have the same pack and play. You and your husband are so cute with Evan. Eemo sounds like such a wonderful person. Sounds like Evan is going to be a big baby. I hope you’re ready. You’re definitely going to get a work out from carry Evan around.
