    mr

Hey buddies!  I can’t believe it…Evan is now 3 months old!  The past 3 months have been a whirlwind of awe, laughter, tears, exhaustion and love.

    3 Month Check-up

Our pediatrician is awesome.  He loves Evan and he actually listens to all of our questions and concerns.  He’s even interested in Evan’s sleeping and wants to help with that too.

    Weight:  15 lbs 2 oz (85th percentile)

    Height:  24.5 inches (71st percentile)

Head circumference:  41.5 cm (58th percentile)

    Milestones

    - Evan rolled over from tummy to back, yay!

    - He has one good stretch of sleep at night.  Yes, sleep is a milestone.

    - He laughed out loud!  Before he’d open his mouth really big and it looked like he was laughing but no sound would come out.

    - He has almost full neck control…a lot less wobble wobble.

    - He loves making eye contact with everyone, even Bella.

    - He gets so happy when he sees me and Andy.

    - He moved out…of our room.  He outgrew the Pack & Play so he now sleeps in his crib.  This is silly but I didn’t want to be apart from him so I considered moving the crib into our room!

    - At around 12 weeks he started using a pacifier.  This isn’t really a milestone but I can’t believe we survived without it for so long!

    - His hand-eye coordination has gotten so much better.  It was pretty much non-existent in the beginning.  Now he’s able to grab things!  Lately while I’m changing him he’ll be gnawing on one hand and the other hand will be grabbing the bottom of his onesie.  So cute.

    - He loves books.  He’ll touch the pages with his hands and stare intently at the characters.

    Winner

I’m a winner, hehe!  I’ve won quite a few things this past year.  I feel so lucky.  Here are a few of the random things I’ve won…

    (1)  Baby Stuff – When I was on that show “The Doctors” I won a bunch of baby stuff like a video monitor set, pregnancy pillow, bathtub, blanket, bouncer and sleep positioner.  I also won a back massager and a Eucerin gift set.

    (2)  My Brestfriend – I won a My Brestfriend breastfeeding pillow from Xanga’s Momaroo site.

    (3)  $100 gift certificate – I won a drawing at the Chelsea Premium Outlets and got a $100 gift certificate.

    (4)  Teething Bling – See below.

    (5)  Evan – I know I didn’t “win” him but then I just feel so lucky to have him that it’s like I won a prize, hehe.  The day I had him was the luckiest day of my life.

    Teething Bling

Evan isn’t teething yet but he’s in the grabby phase where he’s always grabbing my hair and jewelry.  I stopped wearing my favorite necklace because he kept grabbing it and the pendant left an impression on the side of his face, hehe.  I found the perfect idea for a necklace.  It’s called Teething Bling.

Teething Bling pendants and bangles are made from the same material as teething toys.  The material is free from phthalate, BPA, PVC and lead, non-toxic and dishwasher-friendly!  It even has a breakaway clasp as an added safety feature.

I found myself on the website one day and saw they were having a contest to choose a new color.  I submitted my vote.  I was surprised to get a thank you reply from someone.  I’m generally very “respondy” when it comes to e-mails.  I’m always inclined to respond to e-mails even when there’s no need for a response…even just to say “thank you” or “you’re welcome.”  In the law firm setting I felt like I always had to suppress that inclination but with my friends I can be as respondy as I want.  Anyways, so when I got this thank you e-mail I wrote back to say “thanks for the thanks” and that I love their products and would share with my friends even if I didn’t win.  Amy from the company wrote back to say they’d be happy to send me some of the products to try it out!  Wow.  All just because I was respondy!

I wanted to share my good fortune with you.  If you’re interested let me know and I’ll randomly choose someone to send a necklace and bracelet set to.

I wish I had a ton to give out but I don’t.  Good news is that you can still get a great deal.  Just type in the code S-SKIPPEE at checkout and you’ll get 25% off your entire purchase.  No restrictions.  Yay!

    Travel Tips
    ?

After our Vegas trip I was officially bitten by the travel bug.  While I’d love to go to Antarctica and New Zealand…that dream will have to wait.  We considered Korea but I couldn’t get my act together in time to get Evan’s passport ready.  That limited us to the U.S.  We’re going to MAUI!  Last minute trips are exciting and spontaneous but they leave me feeling so unprepared and stressed leading up to them.  Please help!

Any tips for traveling with a 3-1/2 month old?  Any suggestions on what to do while we’re in Maui?  Anything will help…even if just to say we’ll be okay, hehe.  Thanks!!

  • Awww, Adorable as always. Getting bigger! Awwww <3

  • lucky!! :) I say make a check list so you don’t forget anything. Don’t forget your camera lol. Are you sure he’s ready to travel so young? He’s is really big now and so adorable :] I love the bunny pictures haha it’s so cute with bella  ;)

  • OMG~ hes getting so much bigger and just even more adorable by the DAY. I love the progresssion pics next to the bear! He is too cute! I have to say, DONT WORRY about the plane ride of the trip. We took C to Oahu and the she pretty much passed out the entire flight, and she was even older than E is right now. The younger they are the easier it is, so you are gonna be fine! I can’t wait for you next updates about the trip! Hope you have a blast!!!

  • wow he reads already??? can’t wait to see him again next weekend!!! =)

  • awwww, he’s so plump and cute! he reminds me a lot of jacob at that age…enjoy the chubbiness while it lasts…jacob has started to thin out and it saddens me…aigo! the #1 prize pic is priceless!

  • awww~ he looks so cute!  he looks like he grew even more from the last time i saw him.  as for travel, make sure to take a stroller that’s easy to fold up.  that’s all i could think of.  ahha.

  • you take the best pictures of evan!!!  and congrats on the milestones!!  Evan is growing up so well..thanks to his loving parents!  I hope you have a wonderful time in maui…i really think you guys will be fine!  So sad I won’t be able to meet up with you and the rest of the mommies…..but we’ll definitely have to meet up when I’m on summer vacay!

  • Evan is going to have so many wonderful photos to look back on – they are all so great! Those easter pictures are too precious for words. He is such a cutie patootie. Truth. Yay for Evan liking books – that’s a good sign, ma’am :)

  • awww what a perfect post ^_^ evan is soooo adorable as always hehe just getting cuter and more handsome day by day ….you take such pefect pictures!!

  • you take the best pictures!

  • Wow he’s grown quite considerably… in the first pic, you’re holding him up against the teddy bear but in the 2nd he can sit next to the bear all by himself… When I see pictures like that of Jonah, it makes me sad, like he’s growing up too fast and isn’t going to need me soon :(

I loooove the lounging & reading pictures too!  Good luck on your trip to Maui, we’re headed there in July, when Jonah will be 7.5mos old.  I’m scared thinking about what all I’ll need to bring!

  • i love the pics you take!  can’t get enough of them – so CUTE!  and that teething bling is awesome…must tell my mommie girlfriends about them!  oh and i love that you’re “respondy” – i find that extremely thoughtful!

  • happy 3 months.. what a difference from 3 weeks to 3 months.. he is such a cutie pie…he is the best prize in fact he is priceless….

ooohh… i would love to get my hands on the teething bling… Wyatt always grab my pendents and puts it in his mouth…

  • I love the Easter pictures!!  So so cute~!

  • Wow!  Evan’s soooo cute!  He’s growing up so fast!  Maui is so beautiful!  You’ll love it there.

  • he is getting so big! i love the easter pictures – the bunny hat and ears are adorableeee!!

  • I haven’t flew with either Ariana nor Wyatt yet, so can’t really help with that. But I hear that some people nurse their infants or give them a bottle or paci so what that the ear is not plugged up.

  • Website: http://www.jetwithkids.com/

Recently there was a radio program on NPR, Rick Steve’s weekly travel radio program where a woman came on to talk about traveling with kids.  I think there might be some good tips for you there for safety requirements, things you should know, etc…  Hope it is useful.

  • awwww, Evan has grown so much even from the last time i saw him here~ he is such a cutie….i love the pictures that you took of him…especially the one he is reading the book…he really looks like he is enjoying himself~ hehe….

what a smart idea of wearing a teething pendant!? thanks for the info…i will check back in a few months! keke.
on another note, dave and i were in maui a few months ago, and we lovedddd it! it is an awesome place to take your little one.  During the time we were debating between two hotels, four seasons or the grand wailea.  Both are amazing! four seasons…its four seasons….you can never go wrong with their services and food…etc definitely more couples and older crowd, the grand wailea it is a lot more family oriented.  You will see little kids/babies left and right.  we ended up staying at the grand.  The restaurant at the grand is not the BEST, but it’s okay…we dined most of the time at the resort just because if you don’t have a car there is no way you can get around.  If you want to do a whole maui excursion i highly recommend you to rent a car.  Also, next to the resort there is a walking distance shopping center where you can just stroll and walk around.  btw, taxes is lower there and for some reason they sell LV for few hundred $ cheaper at the LV store.  don’t know why, but it is cheaper there.  just fyi….
let me know if you want more info….just email~

exciting!! you guys will have so much fun!!

  • happy 3 mths! his baek-il is just around the corner and soon he’ll be bigger than his teddy buddy! love the easter pics. soooooo lucky that you’re going to maui! i agree with sooae… it’s a breeze at this age. i’ve traveled with mia at 4 mths and it was too easy since she slept for most of the duration. have fun~

  • I love all the pictures!  Evan really is such a sweetie and I love his fat lil tummy. =)  That teething necklace is so cool too.  I was just wearing a necklace today and C kept trying to play with it.    I’m so jealous you’re going to Maui!  I’ve never been to Hawaii so I’ll just have to drool over pics when you get back. Have a fun and safe trip!

  • your pics of cutie pie evan are so artistic! i enjoy viewing all of them…and even your dog! :) that teething necklace..what a great idea! kelsey actually yanked off my necklace and broke the clasp when she was a few months old. :( evan’s 15 lbs?? wow-e! he’s a super eater! the only thing i can think of when traveling is taking a compact stroller. we always take our maclaren when we go to hawaii. i love maui (over oahu), but we’ve been taking k to oahu eversine she’s been born. we’ll be going in june, when will you guys be going? :)

  • awww, the bunny pics are so cute! enjoy your trip to Maui and remember your camera and LOTS of sunblock for you guys and Evan!

Although for Evan you should only apply it lightly since he is under 6 months. When my daughter was 2 months I made a mistake of taking her to the beach without sunblock and she managed to get lightly sunburned even though I did my best to keep her in the shade (her previous doc told me it wasn’t necessary until 6 + months)

California baby makes a  sunblock stick meant for babies or if you prefer something with higher spf there is a new neutrogena baby stick with spf 60 which i LOVE because it has no scent and is not sticky at all. Also just dab it on, (not smear/slather it on) exposed skin (hands, face, legs, etc) and re-apply every 2 or 3 hours. Since you have such a great relationship with your doc, make sure you get his opinion too because different docs will tell you different things, but here is an article from babycenter about sunscreen and babies:sunscreen safe for babies?

    Have fun in Maui!

  • love the pic with evan and bunny!    i’ve traveled a lot with both my girls and i think it’s easier when they are younger.  i think the best advice i could give is to be prepared, plan everything ahead of time and pack everything you think you will need so that there are no surprises.  it’s also easier if you try to stick to evan’s normal schedule (like feeding and naps) so that he doesn’t get cranky with his schedule thrown off balance.  a carrier is ‘a must’ for me on trips, especially on the plane ride in case baby gets fussy.  maui sounds so heavenly… have a GREAT time!

  • maui!! ~ omg, how exciting!!!!!!!!! when are u guys going? travelling with evan at 31/2 months wont be too bad. nathan was only 1 mth older than evan when i took him to aust. i posted a bunch of travel tips a while back so i’ll fwd to you.

evan has grown SO DANG BIG btw ~ there’s such a big difference between his 3 week and 3 month pics. i love how his growth is captured in the progression pics. i also love the easter pics! especially the ones with bella. she looks like she’s having thoughts as she looks out into the ocean. haha

yknow, i couldnt think of a better person to won so many gifts. u totally deserve it because you’re so thoughtful and giving to other people u shouly buy a lottery ticket and try your luck with that too =)

p.s can the teething necklace be used for babies that actually have teeth? if so, it would be so perfect for nathan! these days, he’s into ripping out my hair, chomping on my knee caps and chomping on his crib rails. the paint has all chipped away where he’s bitten into the wood. so crazy ~ i never expected for him to do that!!!!!

  • btw, we took nathan swimming for the first time today! he loved it ~  we must take evan and nathan swimming together!

oh and nathan was so sneaky today and found stephen’s leftover yan yan’s (biscuit sticks with chocolate dip). he was sooo quiet and ate them with his back turned to me. when i found him, he had chocolate smeared allll over his face and had the most guilty look like he had just been busted. sooo sneaky!!!

  • OMG! your baby is so freaking adorable i can’t stand it! hahahah! :D and you look amazing my dear! =) i love your updates. =)

  • awww, he’s def. getting cuter day by day.  he looks so much bigger since i last saw u guys too!!!  have fun in maui!!! i’m so jealous~ we usually go every other yr. with the family but we’re skippin this yr.  where or what area are u staying in?? ka’anapli area??  btw: i looooove those easter pictures & u look great too!

  • i want a teething bling! e has started to grab fistfuls of my hair and will shove it in her mouth. or lick and gum my shoulder. my necklace. or else she munches and slobbers all over her own hands and then grabs at my face with her slobbery hands. lol kind of gross, but cute at the same time since she doesn’t know any better.

  • i absolutely evan’s pictures!!! fabulous!  also i found those teething things on ebay too; you know what an ebay whore i am now!?hahah love and hugs to you all! cannot wait to see more pictures!

  • I love his pictures with the different facial expresses. and you have too of the most cutess bunnies!

  • he’s so cute!

  • hahaha i like how you stuck a carrot under his arm to complete the easter look!

  • Evan has gotten So big!!! What a cutie~

  • OMG, that picture of Bella and Evan in bunny ears is ADORABLE!

  • E is one cuuuute baby boy!  i love all the pictures you take of him with the props….such good ideas!  i would be interested in the teething ring!

oh and E seems so fast devlopmentally!  my son who just turned 6 months old flipped about 3 weeks ago!  hehee.

  • aww…family trip!!!…Hope you and the lil one have tons of fun!! He’s just so darn adorable…I just want to kiss those chubby cheeks!!

  • oh my goodness!!!! Evan is so adorable in his 3 months pic with the bear!
love the pictures!!!!! love his expressions~
*bella is so cute with the bunny ears~ hehee*

  • beautiful pictures as always!

  • Love the pictures. The before and after with the bear is a good idea. I’m totally gonna copy that, just so you know. Those milestones are great! I love the pictures. The one with him on the boppy reading the book makes him look so grown up. The bunny ears are awesome! I love animal ears on babies, but the animal ears on the animal was a nice touch. Yay for Maui! Have fun, good luck, and let us know how traveling with the little one goes and any tips you would have to share.

  • hi sweetie! again, love love love your pictures! the two pictures of evan and the teddy bear was similar to the martha stewart onesie pictures! evan’s already posing like a model at 3 months, gonna be a handsome boy! seems like you’re doing very well, so happy for you! evan’s first easter looks like a blast with bella =). how did you get bella’s ears to stay? my gf went to disney for honeymoon and brought cupcake minnie ears and it just wouldn’t stay. btw, wing cut her hair last night except her head so she looks like a lion with a bony body, i gotta send you a picture =P.

so lucky! vegas and now maui! hope you have a blast! my tip would be to get a bunch of smartmom jewelries to keep evan entertain! jk =). kidding aside, just relax and don’t stress over the little things. babies can definitely feel your tensions so just enjoy your vacay! can’t wait to see all the pictures!

  • VERY cute. babies grow so fast! whens your next one coming.. hehe :D

  • He’s soooo adorable!

I used to live on Maui.  :)   There’s lots to do there!!  Write me or give me a call if you wanna know specifics.  I’m bad at typing.

  • Your post makes me smile! :)   Evan’s so cute!  I want to pinch those little chipmunk cheeks!

  • before you know it, evan will be bigger than mr. bear.  he’s growing up so quickly.   i love his smile.  you’ve got a genius on your hands…reading at 3 months.   :)  he must take after you; you loved to read as a kid.  i hope ‘i love grandpa’ is his fav book.

  • Little evan is gorgeus and getting more handsome by the minute.  Well, its exciting to be going on a very first trip with Evan. You can look up for hotels where they hv some baby sitting in the premises so you have a choice of spending time w him and when you want to be just the two of you for a dinner or something.  Also, you can probably find a resort where the three of you can spend time in the pool and do activities together. Bring with you the mosquito repellents, creams, hats and sun block is a must!!  Am sure you will do just fine. I travelled with Stan to china when he was only two months old and I did bring some milk powder for the feeding in case I was somewhere where I didnt feel comfortable w breastfeeding.

Enjoy your trip and have a good time !!!  I’ll be heading to my parents by the end of the month and Stan is too excited about the trip hee hee. take care.

  • awwww he’s so adorable

  • Evan is too darn cute! Are you going to be using the teddy bear as a benchmark from now on? And I love how you put a carrot in his hand w the bunny hat. haha. I’d like to be considered for the teething accessories. I thought the necklace was a jade pendant. Some kids do bring their parents luck, Evan seems to be. Good luck on your travel, I’ll have to check back and see how you manage.

  • I saw your post on the front page. I currently have a seven month old and boy I can agree they do grow fast!  my little girl is teething up a storm. she chews on anything she can get her hands on, including my not so soft necklaces.  when I saw those teething bling I thought “what a wonderful idea!”  I want one! haha

  • wow, he grew so much already! i haven’t been to maui, so i don’t have any tips for that part, but when you’re flying, having him either bf or suck on a pacifier will help during take off and landing. i did that for my daughter when we flew to vegas when she was 3 months and was ok.  those teething things are pretty cool! my little one is starting to put everything into his mouth and those look perfect! =)

  • love the easter pics! maui sounds like so much fun! you shuold just enjoy the sun and sand and relax! i think i’m going to buy that mommy bling thing for my friend who is preggers. thats a cute practical idea!

dang, you win a lot of stuff!

  • lol..i love how chubby he is! he’s got moobies (man boobies)! lol

  • these pictures are great, evan is an adorable baby !

  • The difference between the first and second pic is amazing…! He’s beautiful (though I’m sure you’re used to hearing that … but I mean it!!)

  • Those are great pictures!  Have a wonderful trip to Maui!

  • Jenny!! Evan is SO_CUTE. Aww, I love reading your blog, it always makes me so happy and gives me this warm feeling You have to update with that TV show you did!!! And the teething bling is a brilliant idea! I’ve stopped wearing necklace (and dangly earrings) too. Not only does C grab, but it distracts her when I’m feeding her!!! How do you find all these amazing products??? Miss you!! xx

  • he is growing up to be such a handsome boy! photos look adorable…keep ‘em coming!

maui is gorgeous…we stayed at the hyatt and loved it there.  they have this fun water slide and it’s really kid friendly there. …if you want to do a lua, i’d recommend the lahaina lua.  you can’t go wrong with paradise so don’t stress!  Enjoy this time with your favorite men!

  • oh my evan is getting bigger!  and i love the easter photos :)   congrats on being a winner for so many things!!!

  • I love viewing your pictures..your sooo good with taking pictures. i take pictures but it seems to be sooooooo boring =(  kekee I can learn a lot from you

  • woo hoo you’re going to maui!  that’s where j proposed and the very first hawaiian island i visited.  we loved watching the sunrise and biking down mt. haleakala, but don’t know if that will be possible with baby evan with you.  you can take him to the old lahaina luau (considered the best on the island) and also rent a car and drive around the hana side.  if you have any other questions, let me know and i would be more than happy to give your more recs!

and thanks for being so sweet and thoughtful (again, you’re are such a thoughtful person jenny!) and posting about the teething bling!  one of my friends is due in june and i think it would a really great gift to give in addition to a registry gift.  i would have never known about it if it wasn’t for you!

  • What a cute boy… I like the way you took the same pic at 3 weeks and at 3 months.  I wish I thought of that.

  • @GCake1105 - Thanks so much for the tips re traveling with babies!  It was so helpful and I totally used the tips on that site.  Thanks!!

  • @trueClassic - Hi sweetie!  Thanks so much for the info!  We were going on such short notice and I totally ran out of time or else I would’ve been bugging you for more tips, hehe.  We stayed at the Four Seasons and loved it!  That shopping center you told me about was one of my 1st stops and I got a new messenger bag!  I loved the low tax esp. since tax in LA is now 9.25%.  Oh and we rented a car thanks to your tip!  Thanks!!

  • @pifamily - Hi~!  So awesome you guys will be going to Hawaii in June!!  We JUST got back and I’m already wishing we could go right back.  We even thought about extending our trip when we were there…we didn’t want to leave!  That’s so cool you’ve been traveling with K ever since she was born…so so cool.

  • @audreysmommie - Hi~ thanks so much for your awesome sunscreen tips!!  We got the California Baby one!  I want to try the Neutrogena one too though.  Yeah, I heard docs in the past didn’t recommend sunscreen for babies under 6 months but now most do.  Thanks again!

  • @hongfamilia - Thanks for your travel tips!!  I read your comment and went to get a carrier the day before we left.  I’m so glad we had it because it was so nice to have on the plane, in the airport and just everywhere in general.  THANKS!

  • @K_G_C - Aww~ too bad you guys are skipping Maui this year.  You’re so lucky you have a tradition of going every other year!  We stayed in Wailea at the Four Seasons.  We did visit Ka’anapli though.  I loved it all and can’t wait to go back!

  • @MsYuMMieJ - Hi sweetie!  Umm, I’d like to remind you that you haven’t updated since January~~ hehe.  Just kidding~ I know you’re super busy.  I get Bella’s ears to stay because she’s really good at doing the “stay” command.  Once you teach Cupcake that you’ll be able to put all sorts of things on her.  Oops, please don’t tell her Aunt Jenny told you this, hehe!

  • @cookingpad - Hey buddy!  I love reading your blog too~ it’s always a treat when I see there are updates.  I’m going to be bugging you to update more often though, hehe.  Anyways~ I find all these awesome products/deals because I spend soo much time researching baby stuff!!  Sometimes I feel like it’s a job since I spend so much time doing it but then it’s really fun for me.  I bet you’re super busy planning C’s party and getting ready to travel!  Hope everything is going well~~!  I miss you!
