Taiwan, Bali & Hong Kong
Hi!! Hope you’ve been having a wonderful summer! Once I stopped working I thought I’d have so much for Xanga. It turns out that I’ve been busier than ever. Before we leave on our next trip I wanted to make sure I got to post about our Asia trip. It’s crazy but we’re getting on a plane in less than a week and we haven’t decided where yet. Where in the world will Skippee be next week??Here’s a quick recap of our Asia trip…
TAIWAN
My favorite things:
- Hanging with and getting to know Andy’s family
- Taking glamour photos (hehe!)
- Yummy food and the best boba in the world
- Finding a cheap but really nice boutique hotel called The Tango
- Watching Andy’s aunt ride a moped
BALI, INDONESIA
I’d definitely recommend Bali! It is an amazing island with gorgeous beaches and so much to do.
My favorite things:
- The villas at the Four Seasons, Jimbaran Bay – each one has a plunge pool!
- Having monkeys climb on us to steal our bananas
- Private dinner on the beach on a bed!
- Meeting rescued elephants who know how to paint, add and play basketball – the sanctuary teaches the world how smart elephants really are
- Food shopping at the local market and taking a Balinese cooking class
- Getting a Balinese massage lesson (we were cracking up the whole time because our “model” was a big ol’ Balinese dude) and crafts lesson
- There’s a guy from the hotel who goes with you to the airport and escorts you almost all the way through to the gate. He even waits in line for you!
HONG KONG
My favorite things:- Getting to see my favorite international buddies wedBliss (and Charlie), Linnet (and her new baby) & Dave (Hiro from Heroes)
- Exploring Hong Kong again
- Walking around in the rain
PREGNANCY UPDATE
This is for you, Alison~ a photo of my growing belly! I can’t believe I’m halfway through my pregnancy already. I’m obsessed with mommas lately. Whenever I see moms I think…wow, these women are amazing!

Oh, Jenny- you had me at “best boba in the world.” *lol* Please show us more of your glamour pics! Bali sounds incredible! I love places where there are so many interesting activities to partake in. Argh! I wish I could convince Joe that traveling to Indonesia would not mean the end of his life! You are such a cute mommy-to-be. Looks like Bella is jumping for joy.
I can’t believe you’re headed off on another adventure already, lucky girl! That’s so funny you haven’t decided on where to go yet though. How do you guys have the freedom to do that? I feel like I have to plan weeks in advance to just go to Vegas. haha.

half way thru your pregnancy and you’re still TINY! You’re looking great! I guess the morning sickness is going away about now? Mine started to get much better around the 4-5 month mark.
I know I’ve said this a million times, but I’m so jealous you get to go on these amazing trips!!!! Everytime you post these things, I just drool… Great to see you doing so well!

@cheendy - the glamour shots were cheesy but so much fun!! we’re pretty sure the baby will be a boy~~~ but will confirm for sure in 2 weeks!

@petitetokyo - awww~ i hope you’ll get the time off to travel soon!! you gotta take advantage of all the close & awesome places in asia while you’re there! we’re having a hard time finding a place near l.a. to go for our babymoon.
@MissBride - we have no idea where we’re going next. it seems like we’re so limited because we need to stay fairly close to l.a., go to a safe/clean place with good hospitals, where there are no hurricanes and somewhere tropical that we’ve never been before. we’re leaving in a few days and we still haven’t bought tickets yet…eek! i hope you get to second trimester really fast so you start feeling better. hang in there!!
@Daydreamer33 - hi hi! i loved bali…i really hope you can go one day…maybe as more time goes by joe will be more open to the idea of traveling to indonesia. i think bali is so amazing because it has the gorgeous beaches but it also has so much incredible culture and depth to it. i love how you said it looks like bella is jumping for joy~~ hehe! i was so exhausted from our asia travels that i didn’t know if i could do a babymoon…but then every single parent we talked to said we HAVE to go before we have a baby. we decided to take their advice…hehe!
@JayMonKeee - yup~ we went to that famous street. andy’s cousin told me that every girl in taiwan dreams of getting their wedding photos done at one of the stores on that street~ hehe!
how exotic! i’m so jealous of you and andy getting to travel the world! you and your little tiny bump are so cute~ enjoy your pregnancy – this is where you really start to enjoy it and experience it.
hello ~ ! awwww it looks like you had a blast going to those places…im so jealous! =) ive never been to any of those places ..the only international place ive been to is Korea almost 16 years ago >.< but hopefully one day i will ~ your baby bump looks so tiny and cute ~ hehe ^_^

how cool that you got to go to taiwan! who’s in taiwan of andy’s family? close relatives? i’d like to visit there, too. supposedly real chinese…who left before communism. i was happy to hear real boba!!! yum. i love boba!! you’ll have to tell me where! yumyum! i’ve been to bali when i was in college and i’ll have to go sometime with hubby since he’s never been. don’t you look great!!! love to see pictures so keep posting. have a wonderful trip! hehe i can’t wait to see where you go! hope you have great fun!

I LOVE elephants! they are such amazing creatures…never been to any of your last 3 destinations, but i would LOOOVE to go holiday in Bali and Hong Kong. I’ve been researching like crazy on Australia and Thailand for our NYE trip (a tradition with our friends). We finally settled on Thailand! Haven’t you travel to Thailand before? BTW, adorable bump! I can’t wait to be a mommy

Yaay pictures!! Wow, those places look so amazing. I’ve been to Indonesia several times but never to Bali. There weren’t any people that tried to take advantage of you guys? No shady vendors trying to rip you off? Indonesia is known for that unfortunately. I guess it just depends on where you go.

you know for 2 ppl who love taking photos as much as you & i, we always forget when we’re together!!! i just realized that i hardly have any photos of us together! you & andy look fantastic in the glamour shots – like models~ post more when you get a chance! that was the beginning of your pregnancy so you can show it to your baby boy later and tell him he’s in the photo.
dood, why are you so tiny? i’m 2 weeks behind you but so much bigger than you! at the dr’s appt earlier this week, i freaked out at my weight. the nurse had to reassure me that the scale is a bit off… lol. bless her.

@Miss_Snow_Pea - hi! we booked part of our travel (the bali part) through our travel agent otto @ oneworld travel. he’s awesome~ (805) 370-6800. for the taiwan part andy’s cousins who live there gave us the scoop on the best hotels! depending on where you guys are planning to go next year~ hk, taiwan or bali~ let me know if you have any qs and i’d be happy to give you any info i have!
@a_perfect_miracle - hey you! nope~ we didn’t encounter any shady people trying to rip us off in bali~ thank goodness! i hope you have a chance to go back to indonesia and check out bali. little S would have so much fun!
