  • Mammoth!

Hi buddies!  Thank you all sooo much for the kind words about our new addition!  I’m so happy I can share this journey with all of you.  My OB put me on bed rest because I was having too many Braxton-Hicks contractions.  I’m just waiting to see a specialist this week.  You would think bed rest means lots of REST but it isn’t actually that great when you’re stuck in bed all day~ lol!

    Mammoth Memories

Anyways, I wanted to share some photos from our trip to Mammoth back in February.  Way back we planned this trip with friends not knowing that I would be pregnant and at the height of my morning sickness.  Although I was really sick we still had a blast!  What a difference just a few years makes because the last time we were in Mammoth was before any of us had babies!  Here are some of my favorite memories this time around…

    * Evan seeing snow for the 1st time!

[I brought along 5 pairs of mittens/gloves and my baby bear refused to wear any of them.  We had to go buy a $25 pair of new gloves so his hands wouldn’t freeze.]

    [Animal encounters.]

[This really nice man asked if Evan wanted to take a photo in his cool truck!]

    * Spending quality time with family.

[We have a rare family photo thanks to the kindness of a stranger who asked if we wanted a photo.]

    * Making memories with some of our dearest friends.

    [Hilarious!  Evan the Snowman!]

    [Mama Bears + Baby Bears!]

[The boys had a blast together.  It was so sweet seeing a brotherly bond forming.]

    * Our first time having Evan sleep with us!

    [I was so excited I couldn’t sleep!]

    Point & Shoot

I fell in love with my point & shoot camera again on this trip!  It snowed and it was hard to take my DSLR when I was all bundled up.  Most of the photos above were taken with my point & shoot~ a Panasonic Lumix LX3.  Here’s the LINK to a newer & better version.  It even has a “snow” setting!  Most of my DSLR photos were yucky because it’s actually hard to take photos in the snow.  The brightness of the snow made my photos backlit…or maybe it was just user error, lol!  Just to show you an example~ can you tell which photos are from the point & shoot or DSLR?

The left photos are my DSLR and the right ones are my point & shoot.  Of course, the DSLR photos look better (especially when enlarged) but I was surprised at how little the difference mattered to me.  The DSLR photos are sharper and the colors are more vibrant but for this trip all I needed were some nice snapshots for my memories so the point & shoot would’ve been good enough.

    Winter Goodies

I know winter is over~ I meant to give these away ages ago, lol!   The ear muffs are from Japan.  I bought the knit beanies for the adult favor bags at Evan’s birthday party and had extras.  They’re just from Forever 21 but I thought they looked so “handmade” and cute.  If you like them let me know and I’ll send one to you~!  [Gone~ to the first 5 people who said they wanted them!]  Hope you’re all having a fabulous week!  happy

  • i’m sorry you’re on bedrest.  that really sucks!  maybe you can pass time by watching k dramas or reading a good book?  i know you like to be active so i’m sure it’s hard to stay in bed all day.  :(   btw, i love my lumix lx5!  i end up taking around more than my dslr.  and YES, those ear muffs and beanies are SO cute.  if you’re giving them away, i’d love to take them off your hands… my girls would love them!

  • I was put on bedrest towards the end of my pregnancy and it was nice the first 2 days but it go real old real fast!

If it wasn’t for the kindness of strangers, our family would NEVER have family picture either!

How was your first time having Evan sleep with you guys? Olivia has only slept with us in our bed once when she was sick for a couple of hours but never for the full night. But I think she would have to when we start traveling.

You look great despite having morning sickness!

  • i always love your updates! :) take care of yourself and drink lots and lots of water! i was drinking about 100-120 ounces a day while i was preggers. can i tell you how good it feels not having to pee every 20 mins? :) heh.
your little boy is getting so big and handsome.. can’t wait to see him as a big brother :D

  • It’s ironic how I asked my OB for bed rest with Vinh and I want to work ’til I’m going to labor with this one.  I guess bed rest isn’t fun when you’re bored to death.  It’s for your own good so hang in there and it will be over soon.

  • jenny you do not even look pregnant in any of your pictures!! and i love the pics from the lumix, my brother has a lumix and loves it and i think the color in his pics are better than from my canon p&s which i’m about to toss into the trash lol

  • Congrats on a little girl and I know bed rest must probably be tiring. I remember when I was on bed rest I felt like going out lol. Anyway, hang in there I’m sure you’ll do great. Also what a great family trip! I need to take my son to the snow too. Love your family pictures.

  • I was super excited to see you updated but I am sorry you are on bed rest. I hope you find out what’s going on soon. I love the pictures with your dlsr and point and shoot. I agree with you though some of my best photos are with my point and shoot also it’s so convient as well! You can just throw it in your purse or pocket and your ready.

  • yay for happy family vacay! boo for bedrest!! take care of yourself, mama!!!  :)
if you have a hat left, i’d love one! and i have a few more things for you but i’ll find a creative way to get them to you – you keep resting!!!

  • I love how you still update your xanga – I hope you do so forever! Maybe sometime next week I can come by and pick up Evan. I’ll take him to Giggles and Hugs so that you can rest at home and catch some zzzz. Also, i LOVE LOVE the pictures you took at Mammoth, so cute! Sad I couldn’t join you guys this year. Miss u lovey. C u soon.

  • Wow!  Awesome photos!  It looks like Evan enjoyed himself so much :)   I love his express with the dog, priceless :)

  • i grew up going to mammoth every winter and it’s my fondest childhood memory.  i’m sure evan will look back and cherish all the family trips he took with you, too!

i know how depressing bed rest can get.  hang in there!  i don’t think i can pull the beanie or earmuffs off as well as you do but i’ll take one if you have extra :)

  • awe, I loved looking at all of the pictures~ even though it isn’t winter anymore, looking at them made me feel like getting a warm cup of cocoa and a huge blanket~! ^^ I kno I always tell you that E looks so cute in hats, but now I know why~ You do too!! you and baby bear= too cute =)

  • sorry to hear you’re on bedrest.  what a bummer!  is evan running circles around you?  hope you don’t get too, too bored.  maybe you’ll just update xange more often for us all to enjoy? ;)

the mammoth pics are too cute. love all the pics of evan all bundled up and with his giant gloves.

  • i’m not a fan of bed rest either.  it isn’t fun at all!  hang in there~ ^^

  • oooh i’m going to mammoth next month! it’s my first time going too! i’m super excited now after seeing your photos :D are you really giving those winter goodies away?! can i have the ear muff? i’ve always wanted one!

  • oh no! sorry to hear about your bed rest! hopefully it doesn’t last too long. hang in there! love your photos!! i’m impressed with the photo quality of the p&s. the first photo is so picturesque and has amazing clarity. that photo of the two boys on the edge of the table is making me nervous!

  • mammoth this year was the best!! loved it.. wish it was like that every year!

  • Yay! another update! I really look forward to your updates.
I love your photos (as always!).  Mammoth looks beautiful.  And  I love the family photo (how nice of someone to offer to take the photo!).
    Get lots of rest!

  • I was so gonna ask where you got your beanies! I’d love one!

So awesome that those pictures were all from your P&S! And a little post processing, you always spruce them up so amazingly. I really wish we were in the same city, so I could pick your brain.

So nice of the stranger to offer to help you take your family photo. Whenever I see people with a group of friends or a couple, I love to offer to help them, bc I know how hard it is to try to ask or wanting one of the whole group, family or just of the couple :)

? for you …. tempting to upgrade from my old rebel xti … think i should just keep it simple at t2i (don’t like the flip screen on the t3i)? 7D seems to advanced for me and more heavy no? Really want one that has video function.

Hope you’re off bed rest soon! xoxoxoxo SMOOCHIES buddy!

  • elmo! i love the photo of the lab licking evan =P

  • bed rest? sorry to hear about that but I hope it allows you to get the rest that your body and belly need.
Can you feel her moving? :) How exciting!

  • Looks like you had a wonderful trip! I love mammoth!!  Hope you’re doing okay with the bed rest.  Hang in there! :D

  • I hope all is OK and bedrest isn’t too boring. :)
I was looking through all of our photos so far and we totally don’t have a picture of the three of us yet! You guys are such a cute family!

  • @hongfamilia - Wish I had the LX5 too!  I can totally see a photo quality difference between the LX3 and LX5!  I thought being in bed all day watching TV would be fun but then it’s really uncomfortable staying in just one or two positions all day because my back hurts.  I sent you an email to get your address!  =)

  • @fuzzynavel - Awwww~ that’s so sweet but sad to think of your Olivia all sick sleeping in bed with you guys.  When they’re sick they just seem so fragile.  We totally weren’t used to having Evan sleep with us so it was sort of uncomfortable.  He rolled around a lot and I was nervous about smooshing him~ lol!  If you travel and stay at any major hotel chain they’ll have cribs available.  This time we rented a condo so they didn’t have one.

  • @chopsuey119 - Thanks buddy!  Can’t believe you were able to drink so much water while you were preggers!  I can barely drink even like 6-8 cups a day.  Can’t wait until I don’t have to pee every 20 mins too, hehe.  Hope you’re doing great~ need another M update from you!  =)

  • @nomorepink - Buddy~~ if you saw me now you’d definitely know that I’m pregnant, hehe.  I used to only use Canon point & shoots from like the old 1 mp days to 12 mps but then I finally switched to try Panasonic and love it.  Maybe after your DSLR upgrade you’ll consider a p&s upgrade too!

  • @abby - Thanks so much!  Hope you get to take your little guy to the snow too!  =)

  • @orangemomo01 - Thanks sweetie!  I totally remember thinking that some of your point & shoot photos were with a DSLR and then I was surprised when you said they were point & shoot!  =P

  • @ka_woman - Awww~ you’re the friend who never stops giving whether it’s making me laugh/feel good or giving me awesome stuff.  Thank you for always thinking of me!  I will definitely be seeing you before you leave!!!  I emailed you for your address though so I can mail you one of the beanies.  =)

  • @Girl_Interrupted118 - So sad you couldn’t come to Mammoth with us this year!  We have to plan another family trip soon.  I don’t love how you never update your Xanga anymore!!!  I have to wait ages in between Koko Living issues to read your work but even that isn’t enough for me because it isn’t always personal stuff!  Come on buddy~ you can do both!  =)  You’re soooo sweet and wonderful to even consider picking up Evan and taking him out.  I love you so much for it!  I hope I can actually be out and about by next week so we can have a real playdate!

  • @sooae - You’re so nice buddy~ thank you!  The reason we have to wear hats all the time is we both have crazy hair, lol!  Now if only we had hair like you or C…I’d save a ton of money on not having to buy all those hats!  =P

  • @tubecozy - Thanks buddy!  YES~ Evan is always doing the opposite of what bed rest is…running, running, running.  I thought I’d get lots of stuff done just being stuck in bed but it’s the opposite!  It’s really uncomfortable trying to do anything other than watching TV or passively surfing the web.  So that means I need more updates from you so you can keep me company.  =)

  • @monicataniguchi - How exciting you’ll be going to Mammoth for the first time!  It’s so beautiful up there~ I’m sure you’ll have a blast!  Sorry~ someone already asked for the ear muffs.  I’ll save a beanie for you if you want!  I’ll message you too~

  • @JayMonKeee - Thanks buddy!  A few of the pics were from my DSLR.  I’ll message you to get your address to send you a beanie!  I can totally see you as being one of those nice people asking to take a photo.  A lot of times I feel bad asking people so the opportunity passes so it’s SO sweet when someone actually asks first.  =)  I know the new Rebels are really advanced now (I started off with the super old one) but then I feel like at your level you can totally upgrade beyond the Rebels.  Have you thought about the 60D?  It has HD video and you’ll definitely see a quality difference from the Rebels.  I remember when I went from my Rebel to a 40D I was so impressed, lol.  I don’t know about the weight of the 7D but I’m thinking it would be heavier/bulkier than the Rebels or 60D.  So excited for you~ I totally think you deserve an upgrade!  =)

  • @wedders111 - Yes~~ I can finally feel her moving!  I kept hearing that with your 2nd pregnancy you’re “supposed” to feel them move even sooner than the first time but I didn’t.  I started getting worried…but now I’m finally feeling it and it’s seriously one of the most amazing parts of being pregnant.  =)

  • @hana_sj - Thanks!  Can’t believe you guys don’t have a family photo yet~~!  You take such amazing pics~ I’m sure even if you just set your camera on a tripod/dresser and took one it would look great.  The family photo should be a weekend assignment for you!  When I look back at Evan’s infant days I love the photos of just him but I really treasure the rare ones we have of the 3 of us.  =)

  • 1. you take the best photos.

    2. evan looks exactly like andy when he smiles.

    3. he looks exactly like you when he’s sleeping.

    MISS YOUUUUUUUUU!

  • I loved all the pictures!!  But I was cracking up at the picture of you staring at Evan sleeping!!  I know how much you’ve wanted to cuddle with him at night!  hahahahha I’m still dying~!!   I’m glad your fam and Kat’s fam had such a wonderful time~  Love E and N’s matching jackets!  <3

  • Looks like a great trip and love Evan the Snowman pic!! =)

I hope everything’s ok with baby # 2. Can’t wait to hear more updates about her!

  • i went to mammoth last summer… and it definitely isn’t as fun as the winter time because of all the snow lol……
awww what a precious family trip you and the family took hehe =) your pictures are looking awesome as always..evan bear looks so cute all dressed up in his snow gear …he looks so warm in them ~ hehe i especially like the picture where he has the snowball on top of his head.. and evan’s face look so adorable and confused~ hehe…and you look so excited evan is sleeping next to you ….^_^

  • hahahaha you were too excited to go to sleep because he was sleeping with you for the first time? hahahahah so cute.

  • @skippeeahn - so who’s watching evan when you’re resting?  yikes!

  • @tubecozy - thank goodness for my in-laws!  they helped so much while i was stuck in bed.  =)

  • @petitetokio - Miss you too buddy!  Thanks for saying Evan looks like me (even if only while he’s sleeping, lol).  No one ever says he looks like meeee!  Wish you would come visit…so I have something to look forward to!  =)

  • Oh wow, mammoth! It seems like so long ago, doesnt it? You captured Mammoth so beautifully. My pics didnt turn out half as nice! The ones of Evan and Nathan just kill me ~ so cute. Especially the one of Evan half lying on the couch!!! hahahaha.  They really grew to love each other on this trip. I’m so glad that we were finally able to take a family trip and hope we can take another one soon buddy!
