  • Happy Birthday Momma Bear!

    momma bear 2momma bear 1

I’m sure a lot of your parents’ stories started the same…they came to America for a better future for their kids.  My mom had a great life in Korea but she left all that behind to come to the U.S. for something more.  The saddest part is that my parents couldn’t take me with them.  Can you imagine leaving your baby behind?  The ultimate sacrifice.  My mom said she cried every single day and that it hurt so much that it was physically painful.  Every time she heard a baby cry her heart would jump a beat because she thought it was me.  Her life was so tough in those early years…really, she had nothing but a hope that they could build a better life for our family here.  It worked!  I know I would not be where I am today if we had stayed in Korea.

My mom is one of my best friends…I talk to her on the phone all the time…sometimes we talk for hours and hours.  She’s that fun.  She’s also the most giving person I know…she never thinks of herself, only others.  One of my constant goals is to make sure to spoil her because she’s too busy looking out for other people.  She’s the kind of person who’d be the first one at your house or calling you if something bad has happened (or good!)…she would never buy herself an expensive fruit tart dessert but happily buys me things like that whenever she gets a chance…she has such a good sense of people that she’ll never say things that would hurt them or make them feel uncomfortable…I totally admire her faith in God.  I could go on and on.  As you can tell, I just truly believe she is an amazing person!

One of my college essays asked, “Who is the most influential person in your life?”  I had no doubts when I wrote about my mom.  When I went for my interview they said many people wrote about famous people, mentors, teachers…but seeing what I wrote about my mom touched them.  Well, it was just the truth.  I’m so awed sometimes by my mom – the person she is and the life she’s led.

I love you Momma Bear~ HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

  • Koh Samui & Hong Kong!

We’re going to Koh Samui, Thailand and Hong Kong next month!  I’m so excited!!

    Four Seasons Koh Samui
It just opened February 1, 2007.  I love going to new hotels~!

koh samui 2four seasons koh samui 4
four seasons koh samui 3four seasons koh samui 2

We’re going to stay in either the Beach Villa or 1-bedroom Villa.

four seasons koh samui (beach villa)four seasons koh samui (1 bed villa)
The only minus about staying at a brand new place is not knowing much before you get there.  Even the Four Seasons website doesn’t have that much info or that many photos.

Has anyone ever been to Koh Samui?

    Four Seasons Hong Kong

We’re going to stay in a Premier Deluxe Harbour View Room.  I hope it’ll be worth all the dough~ because this place actually costs about the same as the 1-bedroom Villa in Koh Samui.

Andy is going to be at a conference for a few days so I’ll be on my own during the days.  I don’t mind though~ we’re going for an awesome purpose~ Andy was chosen for this special program for people within the company who have “high potential.”  I’m so proud of my sweetie!

Anyways, I have no idea what to do in HK.  What should I do?  Any Xangans out there in HK?

  • Puppies For Dummies

Hi~!  I just wanted to say thanks soo much for all your advice on the wedding dvd songs.  I’m really, truly, so, very thankful!  There were some songs people shared that I had never heard of before but now we’re going to use in our dvd.  I was telling my friend before how much trouble I was having with all this and she told me to ask my Xanga buddies for help…but I didn’t for a long time because I always feel bad asking people for help.  I’m so so happy I decided to ask for help!  Hey~ if there are any mp3s you really like then ask me and I could send it to you…I found some really awesome ones in my search!

    Anyways~ here’s Bella with her new book…

  • Wedding DVD Help…

I need some help please~~ our videographer has been patiently waiting (for months, eek!) for us to turn in our song choices and preferences for our DVD.  We have 2 different DVDs they’ll be editing – a 2 song recap & a 30 minute highlight.

    Here are some we’re considering…

    (1)  Edwin McCain – I Could Not Ask For More
    - One of my favorite songs~ we used it in our slideshow too
    - I love the lyrics…
“Smiling just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I’m alive
These are the moments I’ll remember all my life
I found all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more…”

    (2)  Lifehouse – You & Me

    (3)   Ryan Cabrera – True

    (4)   DJ Sammy & Yanou – Heaven

    (5)  Lonestar – Amazed

    (6)  Van Morrison – Someone Like You

    (7)  98 Degrees – I Do (Cherish You)

    (8)  Chantal Kreviasiuk – Feels Like Home

    (9)  Jim Brickman – Destiny

    (10)  Martina McBride – Valentine

    (11)  Mariah Carey – Thank God I Found You

    (12)  Winter’s Sonata – My Memory (piano)

    (13)  Jim Brickman – Angel Eyes (piano)

    (14)  Kenny Rogers – Through the Years

    (15)  Ben E. King – Stand By Me

    (16)  U2 – Beautiful Day

    (17)  Gigi D’Agnosti – I’ll Fly With You

I’d really appreciate any advice on what kinds of songs are good for wedding DVDs~~ instrumental?  oldies?  guitar?  mainly vocal?  Thanks~!!

P.S.  This Xanga music upload feature is awesome~ now I can listen to my favorite songs whenever I want!

  • Hi~~!  I was tagged by snow_blossoms.  This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this…hehehehe!    5 random things about Skippee…

    1.  Sleepy Skippee.

Some people think I have narcolepsy.  I think I have narcolepsy.  I fall asleep all the time…driving, working, studying, etc.  I’ve gotten into a couple accidents because I dozed off.  Once I fell asleep at a red light and let go of the brake.  I woke up when I someone hit me from behind.  I walked outside and thought the lady behind me had passed out because she was talking on her phone so it looked like she was dead!  I was so nervous before taking the bar because I knew I’d fall asleep.  Everyone told me not to worry and that there would be absolutely no way I could fall asleep during such an important test.  I was still scared because I knew that if I could konk out while driving which is totally life threatening…I knew I’d be able to doze off during the test…after all, it was 8 hrs each day for 3 days.  I did fall asleep…but luckily I still passed.  *whew*

    2.  Collector Skippee.

I love collecting things.  I especially love shopping bags and boxes, especially the super nice ones.  I’m just as excited to get a new shopping bag and box as I am with the thing I bought.  Once I told this LV guy I love their boxes and he gave me a bunch of them…I was in box heaven.  I am a crazy pack rat.  I save everything.  Why oh why do I do this??  I got a Christmas gift when I was in high school from my best friend…I saved the wrapping paper and wrapped a shoe box with it.  That shoe box is still around somewhere in my parents’ garage!  I still have stickers from when I was in elementary school!

    3.  Clumsy Skippee.

I’m always bumping into things, tripping over things, falling for no reason.  How many times have you fallen down stairs?  Me…countless times!  The odd thing is that some of those times I fell walking UP the stairs.  When it’s baby time we’re moving to a 1 story place!

    4.  Oinker Skippee.

I eat more than my hubby.  I eat 4 meals a day and I’m always snacking.  *oink*  Andy says the perfect shirt for me would say – “Why am I always so hungry?”  The problem with eating so much is that I don’t exercise!!  I had never been to a gym before until right before the wedding…then I haven’t been back since.  Oh, and I like to eat everything with hot sauce – the Sriracharacha Thai sauce, gochoojang, salsa, hot pepper, anything spicy!

    5.  Not An Online Kinda Person Skippee.

I never ever thought I could do this Xanga thing and actually make friends here.  Some people are just really good at this stuff.  I’m not.  Remember those AOL chatroom things from a longgg time ago?  My friends would meet all these people.  Me…I would go over to my buddy’s house and try the chatroom thing out and never once did I make any friends.  Friendster, My Space…never met any new friends there.  I have a lot of real life friends but I wondered why I never made any online friends.  I thought…maybe there’s just something about certain people who have a sort of appeal that transfers online too.  Anyways, so I was always Not An Online Kinda Person Skippee…until…I actually met one of my dearest friends through Xanga!  I think I’ve been changed by all this Xanga stuff…in the beginning I would’ve never commented on a random person’s site (because I felt like I was intruding or I didn’t have anything good to add and even in real life I’m sorta reserved with strangers)…now, I’m not as afraid of commenting and meeting new people.  Even for those of you I haven’t met in real life…I still feel like we’re buddies.  So…I’m really thankful and happy that I actually found a little place here in Xangaland.  And geez, if you’ve read this far then that means that you must really be a great Xanga buddy of mine.

Okie dokie, well…I’ve got to get back to the thank yous!!  I’m going to post like 10 times in a row after I finish off these suckers.  Oh~ and I’d like anyone who is reading this to write some random stuff about yourself too.  OR if you’re too lazy to post (as I usually am)…then just write one here please!

  • Thank Yous – eek!

We still need to do our wedding thank yous!!  Do you know where they do really nice photo ones?  Other than Kodak or Shutterfly?  Please help!

We’ve been taking so long because we wanted to order our guests’ photos to include in the cards.  One of my favorite things at our wedding was our mini photo studio.  I love photos!  I really wanted to provide an opportunity for our guests~ all decked out in their nicest clothes~ to have professional photos taken of them.  For a lot of our guests they never have the time to go get professional photos taken~ some of them told me this was the first time they had professional photos taken as a couple (other than their wedding photo)!  I wanted our guests to be able to take nice family portraits, buddy photos, goofy pics, etc.  It turned out to be so much fun!
